Monsoon Tips for the Working Woman
The monsoon is just around the
corner, and with it must come a definite change in our everyday wardrobe. When
the showers hit the streets of our city and we turn to a women shopping store for our wardrobe updates, we must remember
that we cannot keep shopping for the same trends. With the heavens about to
open, online shopping for women must
change as well. For all the women
shopping online, we have a few tips to remember when choosing your monsoon
wardrobe.
Avoid Whites
The most obvious tip is to of
course avoid the color white. Keeping whites clean on normal days, with the
daily grind is hard in itself, but when you add rains and mud to the equation,
it becomes imperative to follow this tip. Not only is there a risk of dirtying
the whites, but whites also tend to get rather transparent when wet.
The Colors
Just because the weather has
decided to turn dull and grey, doesn’t mean that you need to swear by the same with
your online shopping for women. Beat
the dullness of the weather with bright colors. You can simply choose some nice
blues, oranges, or reds and watch as the colors also help uplift your mood as
the weather strives to be the opposite.
Skirts and Trousers
Long trousers are a definite
no-no, especially if you commute by road, and let’s face it, roads are rather
hard to avoid. Long hems will get dirty when you travel. A simple solution is
to get them altered, or, if your workplace allows it, choose to wear a smart
skirt during this monsoon season. And while you’re at it, you can also avoid
denims, as they take a rather long time to dry out.
Jackets
There are days during the
monsoons that tend to get exceptionally chilly. For those days, make sure that
you carry a jacket or trench coat, paired with your western outfit, to keep you
warm. The monsoon is a tricky season and it’s always better to not fall sick.
Indian Dresses
You might prefer wearing some
more traditional outfits, and for that, the main tip is to avoid sarees
(because of the longer hem). Another thing that you can do is avoid patialas
and salwars, as the looser material will just get dirty more easily. Instead,
opt for short kurtis, paired with churidars or leggings. The dupattas which are
rather long and harder to manage can be replaced with scarves and stoles for
more ease. Also, remember to avoid materials and designs that tend to bleed
when wet (for obvious reasons).
Avoid leather like the plague.
They will soak up water, take ages to dry, and will also be ruined in the
process. Avoid loose sandals that tend to squirt dirt back on to you, and
instead, choose flats, floaters or other sturdy footwear that are also slip
resistant.
Avoid loose and open hair to
avoid the frizz that the moist atmosphere can cause. Braid your hair, or put it
up in a ponytail or a bun, and keep it under control.
Simple tip: Waterproof make-up.
Also, avoid foundation whenever you can. Another thing you can do is
choose umbrellas in neutral shades that will ensure that they match with all
your outfits. Happy monsoon!
Thank you so much for this great post.
