Dressing up for a formal event

When you’re heading out to a formal event, you would of course wish to make sure that your entire outfit is on point. However, making sure that an outfit falls into the embraces of “formal” and looks elegant and charming at the same time requires a bit of work. The best way to make this an easy process is to take it step by step and make a list of what you need for your women shopping online.

Find the Dress

If you don’t already have the right dress lined up for the event, indulge in some Online Shopping for Women and search for the dress that is the right mix of formal and chic. Everything else, like your make up, your jewelry, shoes, hair, etc. come after you have selected your outfit. A few things to remember would include selecting a dress that is not too revealing, the hem not too short, etc. Unless it is an uber formal ball, avoid puffy Cinderella dresses for the sake of simple convenience.

The Jewelry

When it comes to selecting the trinkets that would best suit your look, try mixing it up a bit rather than sticking to a “set”.  But make sure that the pieces you choose are complementary and not wildly contrasting. Make your jewelry a unique combination that elevates your look.

The Nails

The part that people mostly forget in the frenzy of finding the best dress and putting on flawless makeup is the part about doing the nails right. You cannot have too long or too squared off nails, they need to look well-manicured and groomed. A good quick fix for this is going for the “French” style nail polishes.

The Hair

Experiment a bit in the week leading to the event to find out what hairstyle best suits your face, as well as your dress. Hair accessories, available at any leading women shopping store, can also be utilized to add an extra dimension. Whatever hairstyle you choose, remember that clean hair is a must, but too clean hair is also hard to work with. For the best results, wash your hair a day before the actual event.

Make Up

Remember the “unofficial” rule about make up. Either emphasizeon the eyes or the lips, but never both at the same time. Bold-lips are not for the faint-hearted, so if you are unsure, try highlighting the eyes. For the eyes, the smoky look is a popular way to go, just remember that you don’t have to stick only to the blacks and the browns, feel free to find the colors that suit you best. AS for the lips, a dab of gloss on the center of the lower lip makes it appear fuller, while gloss over the whole lip only serves to mute the color.

The Shoes

You would wish to choose somewhere between 1 to 5 inches for your heels. Keep in mind that you might spend some time dancing, so it’s always a good idea to choose a pair of heels that feels comfortable. Shop around and find shoes that match and are comfortable as well.

If you take it step by step, creating the perfect look for a formal event does not have to be hard at all.
